"The Business of Music"
Symposium - A three hour summit
focused on overviewing the Music Business. The symposium
consists of a team of expert panelists sharing their wealth of
knowledge in a session that is guaranteed to get the aspiring
Artist ready for the subsequent course of TCAA.
Introduction to the Music Business
- This course is the major subject
matter of the entire academic setting. This course is a
presentation of the Music Business at large with overtones of the
Entertainment Industry. Artists will be exposed to types
of careers and types of incomes that can be generated from various
music career professions.
Imaging & Wardrobe - This
course covers the true meaning of artistic flair and how to create
your own unique image. It also covers knowing what to wear
and when to wear it, how to pack for short trips and long hauls,
and makeup techniques that are needed on stage lighting
plots. This course even discusses staying fit while eating
out all of the time.
Marketing & Promotions - This
course covers information that an Artist needs to know in order to
reach their market and maximize market penetration. The
course covers such questions as: Who is your target
audience? Where do they live? What radio stations do
they listen to? How do you best promote your product,
talents, and services to your target audience in the most efficient
manner?
Setting Fees & Getting Booked
- This course covers setting the correct fee for an Artist
and what happens to an Artist if he/she is overpriced. Also
covered in this course is how to locate your budget and stay within
it and staying busy and connected.
Financial Management
- In this course, the Artist will learn the
discipline of personal and
business financial management to ensure proper finanical planning
for success. This course includes budgeting, forecasting, and
tax implications; necessities for any business.
Copy Writing & Music
Publishing - This course takes a close look at song
ownership and how Artist can make money from songwriting income,
a.k.a. royalties. Artists will learn the art of getting their
songs copy written and how to set up and administrate their own
publishing company. This course will also cover other ways of
making money as an artist and/or record
label.
Contract Negotiations, Management, and
Agency Deals - The art of negotiating contracts and
Music Business deals are the core of this
course. Artists will
learn how to look up the road in search of the best deals.
The concept of when to win and when to lose (or at least give
the appearance) and how to come out on top of every deal are
essential concepts tha aspiring Artists need to know.
Artists will also learn how to shop for a good manage and/or agent
in this course.
Establishing a Have a Great Artist/Record
Label Relationship - This course helps the Artist
graduate and take it to the next level. The deal is on the
table. The contract is signed. Next, how do you
maximize the relationship? How does your team flow in concert
with your Record Company? How do you make them fall in love
with and put you in top rotation? This course covers all of
those questions and more from a point of practical
experience. It also covers skills to make the Record Company
work for you (after all you are paying them to do so) and make them
want to keep exercising their
options.
Recording, Producing Techniques, and
Skills - This course gives the Artist hands on
experience inside the studio while watching a producer at
work. This course is a must for eery Artist, whether they
want to be a producer or not. Everyone in the Music Industry
should get a general working knowledge of what goes on in the sound
production of a record.
Graphic Design - What should the
album cover look like? Should a logo be displayed? What
should the photos look like? How important is the artwork for
the project? These are always some of he questions that
aspiring Artist may have. This course gives an overview of
the graphic design process and informs the Artist of the proper way
to design a cover. it is a must for every
Artist.
